44. Astonished

‘I hope Lucy likes this set up. Took me forever and the others weren’t much help.’ Loke thought as he finished setting up for him and Lucy’s date in the Celestial Spirit World. He was excited and couldn’t wait for her to see it. He worked hard to make this perfect.

“Well I hope Virgo gets here soon. I don’t want Lucy to kill me for keep here the whole day. Man Fairy Tail would not be happy.” He nervously chuckled. The spirit would hear the end of how they lost track of time and Lucy returned three months later. He looked at the set up once again for the hundredth time to make sure it was perfect.

There weren’t in wrinkles in the shiny silk table-cloth, the crystal clear plates were spotless, the center piece was perfect and Aries had just informed him that their food was almost ready. All that was left was Lucy and it would be perfect. He checked over himself and made sure a certain box was in his pocket. The spirit leader grabbed the box and opened it, smiling and giving a nod before putting it away.

“Loke!” A voice called, Loke snapping his head up and smiling. Lucy had arrived. He turned around and saw her walking over, Virgo right behind her. Though the Spirit World had very few clothes for humans, Lucy looked amazing in each one and now made no difference as she wore green “maxi dress” as she called it. He smiled more as she walked up to him. He bent down and kissed her as his greeting to her.

“You look great as usual, but twice as beautiful as the last time I saw you.” He said as she smiled and kissed his cheek.

“And you haven’t changed since I last called for you.” Lucy chuckled.

“You did gain a few-“

“VIRGO!”

“Is it punishment time?”

“Uh no.”

“Thanks for getting Lucy, Virgo. I think Aries might need some help with the meal.” Loke thanked the spirit who gave a nod.

“Enjoy your quick date, Hime.” Virgo said as she went to find Aries.

“Oh Virgo, what am I going to do with you?” Lucy asked herself as Loke chuckled.

“She means well. You know how she is.” Loke said as he pulled out Lucy’s chair. “Have a seat, the food’s almost ready.” The two ate and talked for a few minutes before Loke took Lucy’s hand into his, rubbing it gently.

“I’m really enjoying this, Loke. Even though it’s a quick date, but they’re still great.” She smiled as Loke smiled and kissed her hand.

“I’m glad you do and that makes me happy. I promise the next date will be in the human world. And it’ll be just as amazing as it is here.” The spirit smiled. “Though…I do think you’re lacking something. And I think it’s on this hand.”

“Eh?” Lucy blinked, a little confused by what the spirit meant. She looked down and her hand. He had her left hand. Wait…her eyes widen.

“I think you might need some..sparkle on this hand.” He said as he reached into his pocket. Lucy became to blush.

‘I-Is he going to propose???’ She thought as he brought out a black box. ‘OH MY GOD I THINK HE IS!!’

“I uh..I don’t know when I’ll ever have the courage to do this but I think this will have to do. Funny because I’m Leo the Lion.” He chuckled as he placed her left hand down and picked up her right one before opening the box. The spirit kissed her hand and then held up the box. Inside was a sliver ring with five small gems that formed a star and stars carved all around the ring.

“Loke…”

“I love you so much Lucy and you mean so much to me. I want to marry you one day, but I know it isn’t that time yet. But it’ll come one day. So for now…I promise replace this ring with an engagement ring one day. Will you accept it?” Loke asked as Lucy’s eyes widen. She was speechless, but smiled as she felt a few tears start to form. She gave a nod to the spirit.

“I accept it.” Lucy said as Loke smiled. He slipped it on her right hand and stood up. Lucy also stood up, having no idea what he was going to do. But all he did was give her a tight embrace.

“You want to know something about that ring?”

“Hmm?”

“Remember when I was back in Fairy Tail and I used ring magic?” Lucy gave a nod but looked at it.

“Is this…your old ring?!” Lucy asked as he gave a nod.

“Half of it. The other half I’m saving for me. But I wanted to make this promise ring special.” Loke said as Lucy kept looking back and forth from Loke to the ring. She was…astonished, she never expected him to actually cut his old ring and give half of it to her. She looked at him, new tears starting to fall and went in for a kiss. The celestial mage hugged the spirit and it was a tight one.

“I love it so much. You spoil me too much.” She giggled as he chuckled.

“Well that’s my job other than being your spirit. I am your boyfriend.” Loke chuckled. ‘And hopefully...husband one day.’
